MONDAY 16 DECEMBER 19:30
It was a splendid evening of Billiards and Snooker played in a competitive but friendly manner with great sportsmanship.
A couple of shout-outs to folk who helped the evening go smoothly:
- Ex NEBC El Presidente Mike Johnson for Security, Crowd Control, Bar Management, Lighting and Presentations. Multi skilling at its finest.
- John Allen (a multiple previous winner) for referring the Billiards
Some of the canny spectators who queued overnight to get prime seats in a crowded Snooker Room
The Finalists in the Brian Agus Trophy – Snooker Doubles
Left to right: Kieran Dowling, Stephen Wolstencroft, Paul Mann and Iain Boast
A stonking very closely contested final.
Kieran and Iain took the first match with Kieran sinking the pink and black to come from behind and take the first frame by a point.
Paul and Stephen struck back in the second frame to make it all square. Game on!
The third game was toe-to-toe stuff with the lead changing constantly. Unbelievably, Stephen sunk the pink and black to come from behind to win the game by a point and the match. It is quite extraordinary that the first and third frames were won/lost by a point.
The winners (Paul Mann and Stephen Wolstencroft) were presented with
the Brian Agus Trophy by Mike Johnson
Finalists for the Brian Shanley Billiards Handicap
Left to right Chris Roberts, John Allen (Referee) and Tim Williams
Tim Williams won the Brian Shanley Trophy Billiards Handicap by beating Chris Roberts 2 – 0.
Tim raced away in the first frame and won 100 points to 60 but the second frame was a more even contest.
Chris started well and created a good lead but Tim came back and in the end it was very close with Tim edging towards a victory.
Tim now has his name on the Honours Board for all three disciplines, Billiards, Snooker and Bowling!

the Brian Shanley Trophy by Mike Johnson
